Sony Announces Director For Silver Sable And Black Cat Movie

Back in 2014, Sony Pictures announced that they are working on a Spider-Man spin-off movie that has character Black Cat as its lead. And it even seemed like Sony may be the first studio to put out a female-led superhero movie. However, no news of any momentum ever since and Wonder Woman is opening next week.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Sony has hired Gina Prince-Bythewood as the director; and the movie will be titled Silver & Black. Virtually an unknown, Prince-Bythewood previously did The Secret Life Of Bees and Love And Basketball.

The Thor: Ragnarok's writer Chris Yost is working on a script for the movie, which has no release date as of yet.

But the interesting thing to note, like the Venom solo movie which will star Tom Hardy; these movies will not be in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe. Meaning, they will not have Spider-Man in them even though they are characters from the Spider-Man universe. I'm not sure what to feel about this yet until more information is available.
