A Cure For Wellness was Verbinski's attempt to get back up in good favours with critics and fans alike; however, it fell a little short and I would have to agree.
Dane DeHaan played a very convincing high-flying corporate executive with a touch of douche bag-ery. Jason Isaacs was always sinister as the head of the facility. And Mia Goth looked perfect as the mysterious but innocent young lady.
Verbinski really took his time in building up this world and its characters. Sometimes there was just long silence while we see DeHaan's character moving from corridor to corridor and room to room. Sometimes, it just got stale and boring as things definitely could have moved a lot faster and still kept up with the mood of the movie.
There was a payoff at the end but while interesting, it barely made the sit-through worth it.
Nevertheless, the film was shot very beautifully by Bojan Bazelli, who worked with Verbinski on The Lone Ranger. But this could not save how slow the movie was.
