[Editorial] DC Needs To Stop Announcing Brand New Projects Again

Today, DC and Warner Bros. Pictures are once again setting the internet mill churning with the announcement of another brand new project - a Joker and Harley Quinn movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the writers and directors of Crazy Stupid Love, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa are in negotiations to write, direct and produce said movie that will see Jared Leto and Margot Robbie teaming up once again.

The spin-off will come after Suicide Squad 2, which does not even have a firm release date.

Yesterday, Deadline reported another Joker movie is in the works at Warner Bros. that has Martin Scorsese producing, with Todd Phillips and Scott Silver providing the script. This movie, however, will not have Leto putting on the face paint as it will not be in the same DC Extended Universe.

But why are the studios rushing out all these unnecessary news? Remember the first time they gave us a list of DC movies that are supposed to run through to 2020? So far, after Wonder Woman, we are only getting one Justice League movie - not two anymore, the first Aquaman movie... and that's it. Nothing else from the original list.

The Flash is in production hell, Cyborg is in limbo, and nobody knows exactly if we are indeed getting a Shazam or a Black Adam movie; or both?

Just because Wonder Woman has kind of put the DC brand back on track does not mean they need to rush out all these titles once again.

What about those that are in pre-production? So many question marks still: Is Joss Whedon still directing a Batgirl movie? Two days ago Matt Reeves just claimed that The Batman will not be in the DCEU as well, does that mean Ben Affleck is out after Justice League? And what about that Gotham City Sirens? Is that still coming now that David Ayer is out of DC? Where is the sequel to Man Of Steel? Are we still pretending Superman is dead?

Thank goodness Patty Jenkins is coming back for Wonder Woman 2.

Every week we are getting uncertainty after uncertainty from the DC camp. Why are they doing this to themselves again? And putting fans through this roller coaster ride again? I just don't get it. Wonder Woman was such a relief. I'm even looking forward to Justice League now after liking Wonder Woman. But all these news need to stop.

They need to take a page out of Walt Disney Studios playbook. Star Wars have only announced 3 movies after The Last Jedi. And you don't hear Marvel Studios in the news every other week.

Stop this nonsense, DC! Learnt to walk before you run.
