The next spin-off to carry the X-Men franchise forward comes in the form of The New Mutants, and 20th Century Fox has just released the first teaser trailer.
This horror tone of the superhero genre is what I was hoping for when Scott Derrickson was announced to direct Doctor Strange. But Marvel Studios holds to their signature tone very tightly and there was no horror element at all in Doctor Strange.
This first teaser trailer looks like a typical horror trailer (at this moment) but with a mutant twist. And I think this is apt because when kids discover their mutant powers, it should be horrifying. So this movie could be refreshing, what the X-Men franchise needs as well.
Written and directed by Josh Boone, the movie will be out on 13 April 2018.
