The first trailer for Alita: Battle Angel has just been released by 20th Century Fox, and for lack of a better word, it looks a little out of place.
The movie is shepherded by James Cameron in the producer's role, hence the CGI character of Alita - portrayed and motion-captured by Rosas Salazar. However, Alita looks nothing like Salazar; and looks weird with those huge eyes and clearly does not blend into the real-life environment.
I doubt this is because the CGI work is still not 100% complete, I believe this is 90% to what we will be getting as the final product. So the story had better be good enough to impress, otherwise the lead character is going to be the most distracting thing onscreen.
Directed by Robert Rodriguez, the movie will be out on 20 July 2018.
