What a week it has been for the big blockbuster trailers. We just saw Solo: A Star Wars Story with a few other big ones from the Super Bowl weekend, and then yesterday another teaser for the Deadpool sequel just dropped.
And today it's Sony Pictures' Venom, which we still have no concrete evidence that it is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, if only Aquaman will release something too!
However, it would have been a great week for trailers had this Venom trailer been good. It is not. It is one of the worst superhero / supervillain trailers I have ever seen in a long time. I do take into account that this is just a teaser; but still, trailers are supposed to get you excited for the movie, not... this.
Starring Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson; all of whom did not do much at all in this trailer. It looks like the movie could be any other small town thriller or horror movie, and that is not a good sign to begin with. And that monologue, does nothing to help the cause.
But Hardy does look good playing this character and that is why I am still excited for the movie.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom will be out on 5 October 2018.
