[Editorial] Avengers: Infinity War New Posters And What They Could Mean?

Marvel Studios and Walt Disney Pictures have released 5 new Avengers: Infinity War posters.

The Avengers are split up in these posters and for once, there isn't one for Thanos. Or not yet. And if the colour of the posters is a reference to the specific Infinity Stone, which I am sure it is, then we are still missing one poster.

It is also interesting to dive into speculation mode by noting which characters are together in these posters.

-----

REALITY STONE

The red poster is a reference to the Reality Stone, a.k.a. the Aether, which we last saw was with The Collector. It allows the user to bend the fabric of reality.

Does this mean that Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man and Master Wong will be the team to collect or protect it? I highly doubt that, but we did see these characters minus Spider-Man in the same scene together. But Spider-Man is also directly linked to Iron Man as it was the latter who brought the former into the fold.

-----

SPACE STONE

The blue poster represents the Space Stone, a.k.a. the Tesseract, which Loki stole towards the end of Thor: Ragnarok. It allows the user to travel through space.

My guess is that in the first act of Avengers: Infinity War, Thanos will have destroyed the Sakaaran ship that carried the Asgardians, possibly killing most of them. Loki will have been captured by Thanos' Black Order, leaving Thor (and Valkyrie?) to be rescued by Guardians Of The Galaxy as seen in the trailers.

But I digress. We also saw in the last trailer that Captain America is leading one team to Wakanda, where he will reunite with Winter Soldier, hence they both share the biggest spotlight in this poster. Shuri will also be playing a big part in this movie (she was also included in one of the LEGO sets for the movie). But what is also interesting is that Mantis and Nebula are also in this one, so maybe they will also be in Wakanda at some point?

-----

MIND STONE

The yellow poster is a reference to the Mind Stone, which sits on Vision's forehead. It is supposed to let the user bend the will of others.

Scarlet Witch of course will be by his side as seen throughout the trailers, but what's interesting is that War Machine and Falcon are also here. These four characters are what caused War Machine to be severly injured during the battle scene in Captain America: Civil War. So if they are sharing screen time together, it will be interesting to see where their trust lie.

-----

TIME STONE

The green poster represents the Time Stone, which in the MCU is the Eye Of Agamotto, last seen with Doctor Strange, or more specifically around his neck in Thor: Ragnarok.

This poster also proves that the colour and the characters do not have direct correlation, otherwise Doctor Strange would have to lead this poster.

But we do see the second half of the "Wakanda team", led by Black Widow and Black Panther; joined by Okoye and Hulk. Okoye was seen briefly in the last trailer but she may be getting more screentime according to this poster.

However, where does Hulk fit in to all this? He must have fallen back to Earth after the Sakaaran ship is destroyed by the Black Order and Doctor Strange and Master Wong found him reverted back to Bruce Banner in the last trailer. Will he be in Wakanda as well?

-----

POWER STONE

The purple poster represents the Power Stone, a.k.a. the Orb, is now being protected by the Nova Corp on Xandar.

It first appeared in Guardians Of The Galaxy, so Star-Lord is in this poster together with Thor. From the last trailer (as well as one LEGO set), Thor is on his own quest forging a new weapon after Mjolnir was destroyed by Hela in Thor: Ragnarok. He is assisted by Rocket Racoon and Groot, but as per my speculation above, he will be first rescued from space by the whole Guardians team which also includes Gamora and Drax.

-----

SOUL STONE

The final poster should be the orange colour, corresponding to the Soul Stone, which has not made its debut in the MCU (though it was briefly spotted on a screen when The Collector was explaining the Infinity Stones). The user is said to be able to control life and death with this Stone.

My guess is that Thanos would already have the Soul Stone, or it could be told in the first five minutes of the movie.

However, there is also a possibility that we will not see the Stone until the end of the movie, which then ties in to the fourth Avengers movie that is yet to be titled.
