It is definitely encouraging to see Disney going after such veterans as Gong Li and Jet Li. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jet Li is set to play the emperor of China while Gong Li will be the the movie's antagonist - a powerful witch.
I guess there will be elements of fantasy in this movie if we are dealing with witches, a clear departure from the classic Disney story. I hope they know what they are doing!
Chinese-Vietnamese actress Xana Tang has also been cast as Mulan's sister, another original character for this version.
