[Review] Rampage (5/10)
When it comes to a gigantic monster movie, none has given us a compelling story. Rampage was no different.
The lines were cheesy, but delivered by Dwayne Johnson, at least he could make them work. That did not mean I was not trying hard not to snicker. Only The Rock could throw in lines with complete seriousness like, "They shot at us, they missed. I shot back, I didn't."
Whenever Naomie Harris tried to give expositions, I could not follow her chain of logic. And as a scientist who has worked in a company for some years, she did not seem like she knew how security worked in the building.
The worst part about this whole movie were the two bad guys, played by Malin Akerman and Jake Lacy. They were the stupidest people in the story who were supposed to be masterminds but could not plan for their own escape.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan played another version of Neegan from "The Walking Dead". Johnson's onscreen sidekick P.J. Byrne completely disappeared after the first act.
But the CGI looked realistic and the action sequences were commendable, even though the mutated wolf for no real reason was able to shoot spikes out of its tail and had wings like a bat. And it was quite suspect that only George, the albino ape, grew in size and did not have spikes sticking out of his body like the other two.
Another action flick that requires the audience to turn off their brains in order to sit through it.
