This is tough. Even when it looks impressive, Mowgli still has an uphill battle because Jon Favreau's The Jungle Book was such a huge hit.
What this movie has going for it now is the voice cast that already sounds impressive. Especially Blanchett whose first words rivals those of Scarlett Johansson from The Jungle Book's first trailer.
Also, the tone for this one is darker, and closer to the source material by author Rudyard Kipling.
