Keri Russell is an interesting choice for Star Wars. She has been in Hollywood for many years now, but never got to that household, very recognizable status. So adding her into Star Wars definitely works, especially when Variety is reporting that the roles requires a lot of "action-heavy fight scenes"; which could also mean quite a meaty role.
Russell and Abrams last collaborated in Mission: Impossible III.
