Dwayne Johnson announced on his Instagram account that he has always dreamed of playing King Kamehameha to honour his roots. And the time is right to bring this story to the silver screen.
According to Deadline, Warner Bros. and New Line won the auction for the movie rights titled The King, who is a legendary ruler who was the first to unite the warring Hawaiian islands. Wallace was first tasked to write the script as the studios wanted an epic looking movie like Braveheart.
Once Wallace is done with the script, he sent it over to Zemeckis who signed on very quickly. With all these factors coming together that easily, it is a good chance that The King will smooth-sail to success.
The title for the movie will probably change.
