[Review] Gerald's Game (7.5/10)
Co-written and directed by Mike Flanagan, whom I haven't been a fan of; he surprised me with this quiet take on the Stephen King novel.
I was wondering how much of content can be had with this story as a movie but the flashbacks were done very well with more characters.
I read this book once a long time ago but have forgotten how it ended, and watching the ending of this movie surprised me and I thought that was a very good twist. Also a very scary afterthought.
The practical effects during the escape was also impressive, but at the same time also making it very hard to watch because it was so good.
Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood both gave very competent performances, and more so Gugino as it really rested on her shoulders to deliver this movie.
