[Review] Tully (7/10)
Can we not have anymore musical montages in movies? This is no longer the 90's. I think Jason Reitman is one of the directors today that still likes using it.
As we entered into the 3rd act of the movie, just as I was about to get really bored and began to wonder what the fuss was all about with Tully; something happened which changed our perspective immediately - though predictable as it was.
Diablo Cody's script and Reitman's directing actually made a good coupling here because I cannot see the tone for the movie any other way. What the story tried to achieve was assisted by the direction in terms of subtlety and performance.
Charlize Theron and Mackenzie Davis created something that really sparked here. And because of how it ended, there is the rewatchable value even if you choose to do it.
