[Review] Crawl (7/10)

Title - Crawl
Studio - Paramount Pictures
Starring - Kaya Scodelario, Barry Pepper
Writer - Michael Rasmussen, Shawn Rasmussen
Director - Alexandre Aja
Release - 12 July 2019

I watched this movie and then saw a crocodile sunbathing by one of our local rivers, and I thought, not that scary after all.

The Good:

- Kaya Scodelario and Barry Pepper were really good. Makes me wonder whatever happened to Pepper. The pair were very convincing in their performances.

- The CGI looked really good for the 'gators. As well as the environmental stress. They all added to that scary feeling as you experienced the story.

- It has a very tight runtime with every frame being used to their potential.

- By the end, there was a beginning and and end to the relationship between father and daughter, which built concurrently with the terror.

The Bad:

- Two points in the movie made me wanted to scream out, "Who does that?" One was when she picked up her phone, instead of running back to hide she just squats there and tried to make a call. Who does that?

- The second point was that whole "Apex Predator All Day" line did not achieve any win whatsoever. Why didn't they just go up to the roof in the first place?

Some logic issues and choices that were very questionable but overall still enjoyable.
