Writer - Robert Zemeckis, Caroline Thompson
Director - Robert Zemeckis
Release - 21 December 2018

I for one do not understand why critics hated this movie. Yes, it wasn't the masterpiece I was hoping for but certainly wasn't rubbish either.

The Good:

- Though definitely not his best work, Steve Carell gave a good, tortured performance.

- The stop-motion work is something to marvel at. The storytelling, the humour, the drama, we got them all.

- On a personal level, the story of escapism through creating toy photographs got me right from the first trailer. And it was very easy to relate to this character.

- Robert Zemeckis did a wonderful job of blending reality and daydream, because they both told one story and that was everything inside of Carell's character's mind.

- Another great score from Alan Silvestri.

The Bad:

- We barely met the "real" characters behind all the voices for the toys. Janelle Monae only had like one scene and that was the one we saw in the trailer.

- The pacing could have been tighter. It felt like there were a few fluff scenes in there with the toys. And I wanted more of the live-action instead.
