[Review] Good Boys (6.5/10)
Title - Good Boys
Studio - Universal Pictures
Starring - Jacob Tremblay, Brady Noon, Keith L. Williams, Will Forte, Midori Francis, Molly Gordon, Lil Rel Howery
Writer - Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky
Director - Lee Eisenberg, Gene Stupnitsky
Release - 16 August 2019
The Good:
- The gags and the laughs started very early on and all the way to the third act.
- The chemistry from the three main leads were great. That's what made the movie worked.
- Keith L. Williams' high-pitched, little screams are fantastic.
- The ending scene for the trio was a nice close to the movie.
The Bad:
- No logical sense from plot point to plot point. The most obvious for me was the two teenage girls spending north of USD 600 to buy a drone just to trade for Molly.
- If you were to compare the lowest point that the trio hit to the duo in Booksmart, this has nothing on the latter because Booksmart's script will run circles around Good Boys.
- The third act went for a bit of heart, but fell short of getting into the emotions of the audience.
- Tremblay's character's parents, one of them was Will Forte, didn't come across as well acted or well directed.
