It's hard to remember DreamWorks when Disney and Pixar are killing it at the box office in terms of quality and enjoyability. But now watching Abominable, it's also easy to see why.

The first half of the movie was really solid. The way we get to be introduced to the characters, as well as the lovable Everest, has a lot of charm in it. Also, the way we get to be introduced to this part of China was quite fun and interesting.

I also really liked the cast led by Bennett. I do think she's a really good actress who should be getting more work. This whole movie rested on her character and she was fun to follow around.

However, as we got to the second half, and once the fantasy aspects started materializing, it got a little too much too fast. And with what Everest could do, sometimes you have to wonder in certain, tougher situations why did Everest not take over.

I like some logic in my movies in order to have some form of rules to follow, not one where anything goes; which then becomes an unbalanced story. This is not one of them.

Still, it was enjoyable and a good watch nonetheless, especially for kids.
