With every horror movie, there is always the element of horror overshadowing logic. While this one wasn't anywhere near as bad as any others, I was still bugged by the plot holes.
Nevertheless, Leigh Whannel directed the hell out of this, even though this wasn't his best film. I think he really grew as a director since (his best film) Upgrade. The way he shot scenes to create suspense in his audience, I found them really effective.
As for the writing, that's where I thought in this day and age where we have The Conjuring movies already; there should have been a better way in creating those scary moments without sacrificing logic.
Whey is it only for the first two acts of the movie, the invisible man was able to move around without making noise? But even when standing on one of those clanky foldable ladders? Anyone who has used one of them knows that it's impossible for it not to creak while you climb on it.
The first encounter with the invisible man he seemed to possess superhuman strength which was never exhibited again. And don't get me started with the issue of the paint or the pepper spray.
While individual scenes were really impressive, the overall story and twists weren't so because even before the first act ended, I have already guessed how the movie would end.
But Elisabeth Moss was great, showing once again just how great of an actor she is and why she should be in more dramatic movies. She not only acted scared, but she added deeper layers into her acting scared because her character had different layers to her being terrified.
