Swedish acting legend Max Von Sydow has passed away, according to The Guardian. Sydow was 90 years old when he died on 8 March 2020 in Provence, France.

His most recent outing was in the series "Game Of Thrones" as well as in J.J. Abrams directed Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

He has worked with many acclaimed directors, such as David Lynch in Dune, with Woody Allen in Hannah And Her Sisters, with Martin Scorsese in Shutter Island, with Steven Spielberg in Minority Report, and Ridley Scott in Robin Hood. Some of his most iconic roles were villains, such as in Conan The Barbarian, Bond villain in Never Say Never Again, and also Ming The Merciless in Flash Gordon.

The first time I saw him was as Father Merrin in The Exorcist, which he later came back for the sequel.

Sydow has been nominated twice at The Academy Awards; in 1987 for Best Actor in Pelle erobreren, and then in 2012 for Best Supporting Actor in Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close.
