I really wanted this movie to be good, to see Josh Trank back up on top again like after . But that was not to be.

I think fundamentally there just wasn't enough story here to be made into a movie that would have been interesting enough or compelling enough. I found myself often times unable to stay focused on the movie. And the problem lied with the script which was fully Trank's responsibility.

I am already not fond of dream sequences that usually added nothing to the overall character arc, and Trank gave us quite a few of these sequences that bordered on the fantastical. And I had to ask, if we really needed so many minutes spent on these "fake scenes".

Fortunately, there was a superb cast led by Tom Hardy, who once again disappeared into his role. But then again, there were just not enough of the other cast members like Matt Dillon and Kyle MacLachlan, though they always beefed up the scene whenever they were on.

Also, the cinematography showing this one side of Florida looked beautiful, while all the dream sequences were also gorgeously framed to make this look like a big budget movie when it wasn't.

Still, there were just not enough substance in the final year of Capone's life to create a whole movie out of. It was just his dementia, being investigated, and whether or not people around him wanting to find out where he buried that 10 million - which may or may not exist to begin with.
