I understand why Nicole Kidman deserved an Oscar nomination for her transformation here. She was incredible and really gave a great performance.
But I also understand why this movie didn't receive more attention, it just wasn't that good.
The subject matter was important and at least interesting to write a story about. But that strained relationship with her daughter was not and as the emotional anchor for Kidman's character, it really was too draggy and derailed from the main plot.
I would have liked to see more of the relationship between her and Sebastian Stan instead. Other big names in the credit also did not get much screentime.
And the slow reveal of plot points was just too slow to keep my attention. The ending was nice but it was a drag to sit through.
