A true standout here was Wesley Snipes. You could tell he was having fun creating this character and he's the best character to watch too.
The movie started off really well; the nostalgia (well, I watched the first one only recently), the introduction of the characters, the cameos, and to see where our heroes were after so long. Also, it was great to see the same cast back again.
But after that, it all went downhill as the plot got stretched out what could have been said in half hour to one hour. And I think the main culprit was Jermaine Fowler who just wasn't interesting to watch. And half of the movie was about him.
It was never clear also where the story was going, or even if Fowler's character was really who he was supposed to be because they have never assured us. And it was distracting to have that question constantly playing across your mind and distract from focusing on enjoying the movie.
And the third act also never picked up from the plateau that was the second act. Kiki Layne's character's interaction with Fowler's was so random that every time they did, I was left wondering if someone was working an angle.
By the end of it, I never really fully cared for any of these characters. So I was just going through the motion of letting the movie play out.
