This was a brilliant entry into the Predator franchise. Even if we know how advanced these aliens become later on, but going back into the past and - in a way - back to simplicity; there was just a rawness to it that really focused on predator and prey.
Dan Trachtenberg created a story that we didn't know we wanted. After the last Predator entry that left a sour note in everyone's mouth, Prey had the disadvantage of having to overcome a mountain of disappointment and managed to come out on top of it. The tension was great, the setting was beautiful, and the cat and mouse element worked so well.
