This movie was the ultimate parody on the genre. Weird Al Yankovic has parodied songs his whole life and now, he has successfully parodied movies too.
It was so hilarious how everything went Al's way in the first act. We usually see the struggles in the early life of a singer but this here was a joke. Naturally, this was not based on real events; and coming from Weird Al, I thought it was perfect for this movie to go this way.
There was a lot of cameos, but what I really appreciated was having Weird Al himself to play a part. And he played it impressively well as I have never seen him do anything to this extent.
Unfortunately, the movie went downhill in the second half because, as a personal preference, I didn't like how fantastical it became - weird, I know, to say about this movie that started purely as a fantasy. But the moment the story did a flip on reality, and then Al became an assassin, even, that kind of took a wrong turn for me.
But Daniel Radcliffe playing Al was great. He has come a long way since his first Harry Potter outing, which was a movie and also a performance that I didn't enjoy. Now, he has amassed many credits to his name and this one is his best to date.
