[Review] Women Talking (7.5/10)

Writer - Sarah Polley

As a man I found this to be a somewhat difficult watch. To understand the terror one gender has inflicted on another is atrocious. And I thought Sarah Polley did great work in bringing all of the emotions to the foreground with each woman being one representation.

And with a movie that's just women talking, it's fueled by the acting powers of the main cast, with Claire Foy who I thought was a powerhouse. Jessie Buckley was a pleasure to watch once again, though her character was being destructive. And a young Kate Hallett who has really good screen presence.

I was disappointed, however, that we only had a few scenes with Frances McDormand and only in the beginning. I'm not sure why she was even in the movie.

When the movie stayed on the women's conversation, those scenes were most interesting to watch. When the movie needed to switch gears, there were the filler scenes that I didn't care much for as they slowed down the pacing and lengthened the runtime.
