A movie that didn't seem what it started out as. I didn't see a trailer for it, and I was pleasantly surprised that this was never released in the cinemas; because it was really good.
There were many layers with the different acts. And that was part of the fun of discovering who each character was. And among those, every actor in this movie really stood out.
I never liked Justice Smith, whether it was Jurassic World or Pokemon: Detective Pikachu; in the latter he was even more annoying onscreen. But in Sharper, he really showed some acting talent that made me thought way more highly of him. And this movie has made me look forward to seeing him again in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.
Julianne Moore here gave more than what the movie needed from her. Sebastian Stan also showed a different side of him from his more popular performance as The Winter Soldier in the MCU. John Lithgow was memorable in his small role, and Briana Middleton whom I have never seen before, demanded my attention.
And credit to Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka, they wrote a great script that kept me guessing.
