One thing about Chinese movies is that it's hard to find accurate information about the production side of things, but we make do.
This movie felt long at a two-hour run time. It's was a step-by-step of upping the ante between two sides by releasing skewed information into social media, few times I thought it was going to end and it still did not.
I don't know how social media's popularity is in China, but it seemed a bit easy in this movie albeit at the start of the movie it was already established that our protagonist was working in a news site that has garnered enough following from the public to be influential. Still, seemed a bit far fetched from the real world.
Zhou Dong Yu playing the lead role brought enough acting capabilities to carry the movie and to get audience behind her. And also performing with enough humanity to make it believable.
The director liked to stay on a frame for a little too long; sometimes warranted to bring out emotion like when showing the mother of the victim still trying to make a living. But most of the time it was wasting time and slowing down the pacing of the movie.
In the end it took a bit of twist to properly and satisfactorily conclude the battle of information and ultimately against this version of Harvey Weinstein.
