Ninja Assassin
I still cannot forget the movie Ninja which I went in thinking it was Ninja Assassin couple of months back. That was a really horrible movie. So Ninja Assassin finally came. Though it wasn't great, but it was done very well. What I want to see from a ninja movie is the way of the ninja. And this movie has done it justice. There were plenty of elements of the silent killing machines that really showed off what the way of the ninja was all about. And the action to accompany them were just fantastic by director James McTeigue. Shurikens and metal chains flying all over the place, bodies merging with shadows, if that doesn't bring out your inner ninja, you're a lost cause. However, the story by new writer Matthew Sand was as horrible as the previous Ninja. The first half was totally useless. There were too many flashbacks that threw the audience off one too many times. Plus the first half focused more on the other characters played by actors who couldn't seem to bring their roles to life. The horrible script didn't help too.Rain on the other hand did surprisingly well. Not to mention his command of English is better than other Chinese action stars. To be fair though, he didn't have a lot of lines to chew out. And some were just so cheesy no competent actors could make them work. But you can tell he really worked hard for this role. Toning his body to perfection and learning martial arts to execute them believably.Rating: 5 / 10
