The Princess And The Frog (4/10)
OK, so maybe my expectation killed this movie for me, but I rather doubt that's the only reason.I was expecting a classic Princess and Frog story but this wasn't it as the Princess turned into a frog too. But that would have been fine had there been other pull factors in the movie. Unfortunately there were none. And while this reminded me a lot of the Disney's old classics with the 2-D drawings and characters breaking into musicals, but the the drawings weren't interesting enough, the story was just so-so, and they really don't write songs like they used to. Plus the way the songs were incorporated into the movie, and how the characters were dancing to them, I was just bored most of the time.Is the Disney magic lost on me because the creators of this also created Aladdin and The Little Mermaid among other animated movies? I just didn't feel it. Or... this was more for the tweens than it is for adults. I think that must be it. But hey, I'm rating it as I see it.But as a huge fan of the old Disney magic, I'll also leave you here with a more positive review with a brief recount of the history from Disney to Disney-Pixar, from Twitchfilm.net. And I do agree with them for more of these Disney cartoons in the near future. I'm sure it'll happen as RottenTomatoes gave this a whopping 83%. (And look at the cast, they are no longer led by Caucasians. Indeed a welcomed paradigm shift.)
