That alone made me think, maybe I ought to go read the book. But that's also because of the wonderful performances by Zachary Gordon as the titular character. You can't help but feel for him as he tried and tried to climb the popularity ladder in school. He was charming, cute, and adorable. Robert Capron playing opposite him as his best friend was equally good as well.Chloe Moretz surprised me as I didn't expect to see her. She no longer is the younger kid from Kick-Ass and is truly blossoming into a beautiful  young actress, stealing the spotlight with her radiance in all the short scenes she had.One thing I didn't really enjoy was perhaps the story progression. The beginning was great, plenty of laughs throughout the first act. But the second act felt too episodic and didn't really have a clear direction on where the story was taking us and the jokes had sort of numbed out a little bit.But still, overall, it was a very good film with great performances. Sort of reminded me of an even younger version of Superbad with Grayson Russell playing the third, awkward kid that was McLovin.
