Toy Story 3 (8/10)
[caption id="attachment_1550" align="alignleft" width="99" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]Not as good as I remembered, that was my first judgement.Even the preview cartoon, Night And Day, wasn't as good as what we've seen previously, albeit it was clever. The beginning action sequence was fantastic. It reminded me of how I used to play my Transformers, He-Man, Thundercats, etc. But things slowed down real fast after that and continued to do so throughout the first half. At one point I began to wonder if it's because I grew out of it or the franchise has lost its appeal. Not that anything was wrong, I guess I expected much more from a franchise that scored 100% on RottenTomatoes.com for its first two outings. And then the second half happened. It began with the "origin" of Lotso. That was just a brilliant flashback; eerie, disturbing and dramatic. And the "giant" baby with one eye half closed was freaky as hell. The director managed to create that feel of a mob and really owning their turf at Sunny Side Day Care, making our heroes the underdogs. And then everything came alive once the breaking out commenced. There's action, humour, thrill, drama; everything that has made the first two so great were all found here in the second half. I even laughed out loud continuously a couple of times and that's quite rare for me.And the movie ended with a great bang, with another important message about learning to let go of our possession. Beautiful story that started a bit uncertainly but ended with satisfaction guaranteed.
