Predators (6/10)
[caption id="attachment_1642" align="alignleft" width="94" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]The movie started really well. There's that sense of impending doom, reminded me of Aliens or Saw II - where a group of people were on their way of getting killed. The mystery factor was also on a high. Even though we already know what the Predators are like, but it's the new environment that got us wondering what's really going on.But then, cheesy dialogue ensued. I hated how Adrien Brody's character can deduce so much from so little. He managed to figure out what's going on, why they were there and all of that was just a game. I also disliked the twist on Topher Grace's character - totally unnecessary and a cliche. And Laurence Fishburne appeared to fill in a few blanks also was unnecessary. Sometimes not explaining everything isn't so bad. And that Yakuza guy at the end with his back turned and that slight nod of the head - nothing cheesier than a typical, "emo" Japanese character. But the new creatures were exciting and the chase in the jungle was thrilling. The loner Predator tied to the pole got us thinking and making our own deductions of how it got there. Brody did well, and his new physique was impressive. But most of all, it's the dark nature of the whole movie, including a few gory detail, that really made it work (minus the cheesy dialogue). There's bound to be another sequel. And I thought it deserves one.
