Tekken (3/10)

And I thought Street Fighter: The Legend Of Chun-Li was bad. Well, this wasn't worse but just as bad.So I complained that The Legend Of Chun-Li didn't have enough action, or "street fighting". Well, this one had plenty. But it still sucked. Why? Again, like Chun-Li, the fight choreography looked nothing like the game. There were no power moves nor signature moves. Only similarity with the game was the way the characters looked.Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa looked exactly like Heihachi and Ian Anthony Dale looked close enough to Kazuya. I was very impressed with how the make-up department were able to make Jon Foo's hair looked so much like Jin Kazama's. However, Foo is too much of a baby-face to look anywhere close to Jin. Plus, standing beside Kelly Overton as Christie Montero, he looked like a kid brother to her so the romance between them never felt real. But the overall story was just bad. Bad writing all around. I believe the audience wanted the tournament style in the arena. But after a few rounds, it's as if they ran out of ideas for the fighters to show off their skills, so they incorporated a stupid twist in there. That defeated the whole purpose of Tekken. Many characters were introduced but showed off none of their individual skill except for Eddy Gordo - only because the Capoeira is so stylised. The rest were just fodder to an abysmal storyline. And then there's the dialogue. Bad writing again. None of the lines were believable. The flashbacks were lame as the same lines were used over and over. And the director seemed clueless. The tournament story had a span of three days, but those who were standing near the streets in front of a big screen and those watching in the pubs, never had a change of clothes and were always in the same position. And there was this one scene where Kazuya was in the bedroom with a few girls. That looked like something that jumped out from a porno, was uncomfortable to watch and added nothing to the character. After watching this, somehow I miss The Legend Of Chun-Li.
