Going The Distance (6/10)
[caption id="attachment_1798" align="alignleft" width="94" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]Best thing about this movie was the script and progression. Being a rom-com can fall flat easily without a good script, as others have evidently shown. But with Drew Barrymore's name attached, (I may be wrong but) I haven't seen anything that's really bad from her as far as I can remember so perhaps there's a standard that comes with her name? Though I can't remember if I've ever seen her in something fantastic, that's the problem.Justin Long wouldn't be the go-to guy to play the lead in any typical rom-com, but here it worked. Perhaps the chemistry worked well for him, which they not only looked believable but also got the audience really rooting for their cause.Playing Long's best friends were Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day, and on Barrymore's side there were Christina Applegate and Jim Gaffigan; all of whom were great sidekicks with great comedic timing. And in case there weren't enough beautiful people to look at, the smaller roles went to Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Kelli Garner to brighten the screen somewhat; not that the movie needed any of those. So with a great cast and a strong storyline to follow - which was realistic too - I quite enjoyed this one. Sadly a lot of scenes were cut in the local cinemas, mostly the raunch and raunchy I think. But I'm glad the crude words weren't cut out which would have made the flow disjointed. And there were plenty too.

Dang it, then I'll have to catch it on DVD uncut. :
ReplyDeleteI guess for such a movie you don't really need to catch it in the cinema.
