Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen (6/10)
[caption id="attachment_1863" align="alignleft" width="180" caption="(twitchfilm.net)"][/caption]This was a muddle of a lof of things thrown in together. It started off as a war movie, then turned into Green Hornet, then Batman, and then finally into Bruce Lee.The story focused partly on politics that was too chaotic to follow. The story progression was messy and hard to understand. There was a story in here that just went over the top, it was trying to seem smart but just ended up confusing. And once again as only the Chinese cinema can keep a consistency of: to have the enemies look one dimensional as much as possible. Two actors saved the movie: Anthony Wong, who was everything; and of course, Donnie Yen who hasn't disappoint in his performance so far. The worst actor, apart from the Japanese and the Caucasian who they always use useless actors (a horrible trend that seriously needs to stop), was Shu Qi. After so many years of not seeing her on screen, she is still acting the same and only way she knows how. It's quite sad and pathetic to watch. The action and choreography of the fight scenes were certainly decent enough - thanks to Yen. The cinematography also was something worth noting. Some scenes were quite graphic and I somehow appreciated that as I thought it fitted the intensity the movie was going for.But in the final showdown, the whole white outfit and nunchucks, one man against something like fifty, and how the final battle was won, not impressed at all. Was it a homage to Bruce Lee's Fist Of Legend? It didn't need to and shouldn't have been when nothing else was.
