Let The Right One In (8/10)
[caption id="attachment_1828" align="alignleft" width="94" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]As I've just watched another foreign film last night, Day Watch, what a big difference a non-dubbed version makes. Therefore, stop dubbing movies. But that's not all why Let The Right One In was fantastic. Everything about the movie was fantastic. From the direction to the writing to the acting, even the cinematography was great. The two young leads, Kare Hedebrant and Lina Leandersson, gave great performances; giving their characters that much depth and mystery. However, a lot of that I felt has to be credited to the director, . However, I think what was missing was the exact age of the vampire which Leandersson also never hinted in her performance. Her Eli definitely was older than 12 but her characteristics did not seem too experienced. And I would have liked to know her background story and why her father or guardian gave up so quickly. But it's not that important that it took too much out of the story. But this movie was a perfect example of how non-Hollywood movies without their big budget and CGI effects can go toe-to-toe against the biggest of them. A simple shot of how the girl fell off the tree onto a victim, without any special effects or scary sound effects can still induce a sense of awe.
