The Other Guys (7/10)
[caption id="attachment_1902" align="alignleft" width="214" caption="(imdb.com)"][/caption]Surprisingly very good, I must say. I was pleasantly surprised to be laughing from beginning until the end. And most of it was because the characters played by Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg were not something we usually see them doing.I especially liked Ferrell because here he played a character that is soft spoken, gentle and modest. Totally opposite of what I usually see him in. In some ways, his character has a very zen outlook. Wahlberg was less impressive because I thought he could have gone angrier and had more fun with it.The introduction of the movie with Samuel L. Jackson and Dwayne Johnson was just great. It was clever and stupid at the same time, resulting in a hilarious opening to set the premise. The funny never really let up until somewhere in the middle when the movie dragged on for a little too long. There were a lot of scenes that could have been cut out, like the one with Eva Mendes at her mother's house. (I still don't get the appeal of Mendes so I naturally didn't get her here in this role, but I also understand that's just me.)Steve Coogan also didn't really get to shine or be as funny as we all know he can. But he allowed the script written for his character to be funny. In that sense he was brilliant. If the movie had run a little shorter it would have been better. But because it had ran for that long, it showed that the plot couldn't really sustain the attention span for it. Other than that, I thought this was very good entertainment.
