Him trying to get out of the romantic comedy genre didn't come with Transformers as his role was too small there. So just after When In Rome he is now back with another very similar character in Life As We Know It. He is very fast falling into that rom-com trap. But then again, he does it well. I'm no longer a fan of Katherine Heigl but she did well here too. Both characters were lovable and funny, and there were a couple of times I almost jumped out of my chair too - like when Duhamel dropped the baby. There was a good storyline backing the plot, so it was enjoyable to a certain extent while the rest of the smaller cast came in and injected some humour as well. But the baby jokes like poo and throw-up have been done too many times to have any real impact. That's why Heigl had to go the extra mile and paraded in front of her neighbours with poo on her face. But I think what really made the movie work was Duhamel and Heigl having good chemistry onscreen, bringing both humour and drama whenever called for.
