But so many critically acclaimed movies that, as usual, never made it to this part of the shore, like Up In The Air, The Blind Side, An Education, Youth In Revolt, It's Complicated, The Town, Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, The Fighter, True Grit, Let Me In, 127 Hours; etc.
I would have loved to watch and contend them with the rest of the movies here. Alas, that's not to be.
So here's the list:
10. The Other Guys (7/10)
This was one of those that you wouldn't have expected much of, but after watching it you left the cinema more than pleasantly surprised.
9. Toy Story 3 (8/10)
Many others would probably rank this higher but I just didn't feel the magic of the first two in this one.
8. Tangled 3D (8/10)
In my opinion, Disney made a great comeback by going back to the hero-saves-princess concept with this movie.
7. How To Train Your Dragon (8/10)
DreamWorks did good with this brilliant original story coupled with the nerd factor and endless action entertainment.
6. The Social Network (8/10)
Probably the sleeper hit of the year. Who would have thought a movie about Facebook would be this good?
5. Inception (8/10)
Unlike The Dark Knight, this was too complicated to figure out on the first sitting. And after three, the loopholes just kept coming on the three-levels-before-hitting-limbo concept.
4. Green Zone (9/10)
A surprisingly well-crafted war movie that left me holding my breath for an extended period of time towards the end.
3. Alice In Wonderland (9/10)
Loved the dark, dark theme and twist that Tim Burton brought to this fairy tale and showed just how meaningful the original writing was.
The best Nicolas Cage movie in a long time and he's not even the best part of the movie. The rest of the cast plus the original writing made this the most underrated movie of the year.
1. Avatar 3D (9/10)
This was an 8 after I watched the 2D version, but bumped it up to 9 because this was the reason why 3D is so big right now. Even with a lame storyline, the production kicked ass.
It's a shame! I believe HTTYD deserves a higher spot than that. I absolutely loved it! Not really sure how Alice ranked so high on your list, but I can't say much cause I never watched it. Inception was the best for me. With Kick Ass being a close second. Have you watched Black Swan?
ReplyDeleteNo, that's one of the movies that never came as well. so disappointed. hope it comes soon if it's coming at all.
