The Green Hornet 3D (5/10)

I don't know if I missed something or it was just a blunder on the writers' part but I completely missed why Seth Rogen's character suddenly came up with the name "Green Bee" in the meeting room with his editors. Where's the relation of a bee or a hornet to that picture of a guy in a trench coat and hat fleeing the scene?

But that's not the biggest problem of the movie. I commend Rogen for taking on this project by making it fresh and added his own twist to it but I don't think it worked that well. I will say that it was funny and comedic, but that alone will not make this movie because The Green Hornet isn't a comedy for starters. But since the movie went in that direction, then fine; but it has to have more of what Green Hornet is all about.

The characters Britt and Kato talked about fighting crimes by making themselves look like the bad guys, and yet we didn't really see much of that or how that was to be accomplished. There was too much time spent, or wasted, on the banters between Britt and Kato (even a fight scene between them took like five minutes and it was even more boring than the one Iron Man and War Machine had), also every scene with Cameron Diaz didn't really sit right with me. Plus the fact that I thought Diaz was the wrong choice for the role, and I also couldn't wrap my head around the fact that a competent 38 year old with capabilities and experience would settle for a temporary job as a secretary.

The action and flair worked for the movie most of the time - at least there was something to focus on and look at. Because when there was just talking, it was really boring as the pacing was just too draggy.

Also the editing work was very, very lazy. The continuity from view to view had obvious flaws, like positions of limbs of the characters or what and how they were holding objects, were clearly out of synch.

But the biggest disappointment had to be Christoph Waltz. After coming off as the baddest villain of the year in Inglourious Basterds, he was as weak and as unintimidating as his character kept thinking himself to be. Tom Wilkinson too could have done better.

Also something that I thought didn't work for me, was when the Green Hornet in the final fight scene suddenly had the "power" of Kato. What's up with that?

For all the potential that is Seth Rogen, this one was almost a dud for me.
