The story is about a hitman taking a younger apprentice and teaching him the arts. Problem with the movie was, Jason Statham doesn't look like a teacher because he's better being a loner. And Ben Foster doesn't look like the eager student that he had to portray because he looks more like a rebel, and also a loner.
Furthermore, the two didn't really had chemistry. The only good parts were when they were apart killing. Foster only came alive during his first kill. There was intensity in his eyes that were never there the rest of the movie.
The story wasn't particularly strong as well. It couldn't really convince why Statham's character had to take on Foster's character. The ending was poor, the plot was poor, and Statham didn't really look any different from his previous movie.
The only good thing was the action and direction from Simon West, who always got the heart pumping be it with fist fights or gun fights. However, not everything was good because the last hit involving a bus and a truck wasn't that impressive, nor was it really logical at why or how the characters came to the conclusion that that was the best plan to make the hit.
So even though the action sequences were good, the rest of it wasn't good enough. Statham's acting really needs a do-over.
