First, was the acting - which was a job well done by the cast involving Reese Witherspoon who still managed to be as cute as she was, Owen Wilson's magnetic charm even though he was playing the "evil" role, and Paul Rudd whose comedic presence through his awkward charm still shone brightly here. Rounding the cast up were Jack Nicholson's whose small role was adequate and Kathryn Hahn who delivered more than expected.
Second, there was the story which wasn't quite a typical rom-com setup. There was the subplot of Rudd's character having to choose from helping his father stay out of jail, which kept me guessing right until the end.
Third, there were other subplots which was hilarious like the hospital scene, and those really added value to the movie.
And finally, director James L. Brooks gave such a delightful whole package that I wouldn't mind watching it again.
