Love And Other Drugs (6/10)

Using the medical drug booming business of the nineties as its premise, this had good acting but however didn't really live up to its potential.

It started off as a romantic comedy, then went lightly into the drug business showing its cut-throat nature, spiraled a little into a melodrama and then ended again with a rom-com. And none of those was executed to their full potential, or perhaps because they never had enough time to develop properly.

The story could have really went in for the kill had they play out the Parkinson's disease segment and made it a tear-jerker but the story never really allowed that to happen.

Amidst all these inconsistencies, the acting between the two charismatic leads of Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway made the whole experience enjoyable. I would have liked it more if it didn't go with the big speech at the end. Plus this felt a little bit experimental, so I appreciated that effort somewhat.
