Rio 3D (7/10)

You can't miss the Angry Bird references. And this is how big Angry Bird has become.

Not to take anything away from Rio, it was a nice solid animated movie with brilliant characters and voice acting.

The only problem I had with it being 3D was the song and dance sequence in the beginning. I don't know if it's because of the eyes having the need to take time and get used to the effects, or it was really chaotic with no chance of focussing on any detailing of the moving birds - which was a pity because the animation looked really good. But that was the only time I wished I had forgo 3D and went to 2D instead.

Another thing that bugged me a little bit were the accents, or the lack of. The location was situated in Rio, the title of the movie was Rio, so why not more of an authentic Rio accents from the birds? Instead, four out of five main bird-characters had American accents. I know this was a minor issue but still.

But I really enjoyed Jesse Eisenberg and the whole voice-cast. Especially Eisenberg because he really gave Blu the character.

The comedy however was slightly lacking, I found. The first half wasn't as entertaining as the second half and I rarely found myself laughing. But the story was something truly enjoyable and this was a nice solid entertaining piece.
