However, unlike say Toy Story 2, where the fun factor went up a notch since characters' background were well established in the first movie, this one didn't. I actually thought the first movie was more interesting and fresh and I was more entertained by it. But that's not to say this movie wasn't good because it was, and the story was once again very strong. Just that it was slightly below what the first one achieved for me.
The movie once again opened up with another sequence of simple 2D drawings that yet again looked wonderful. Whoever came up with the idea for this since the first movie was brilliant. It gave another dimension to how the way of storytelling was done.
I didn't check out if all the voice talents were back for this round and initially I thought maybe not because once again, the lines for everyone else were so few and far in between that I was thinking Jackie Chan might have dropped out but no, it's still him. He actually sounded better with a more rehearsed confidence.
One of the Furious Five this time had more of an emotional struggle. Angelina Jolie's Tigress had more depth, but I didn't feel it added too much to the whole story. How the whole sub-plot was presented was a little off, I thought. But they did the best they could with it and it was properly done.
But the baby panda, however, was too cute to ignore.
