Conversations and dialogue were kept to a bare minimum. The mood also was very quiet. So quiet that you have to be patient and wait for something to happen.
It's not an artsy movie. But it sure did felt like one. Clooney was in every frame. And he only interacted with a handful of people. So unless you are a Clooney fan (like me), I'm not sure you'll like this very much. But it was definitely Clooney's screen presence that would ultimately hold an audience's attention to watch the story unfold.
And the story unfolded itself frame by frame. And because nothing was explained so it's up to the audience to understand it, granted it's a very straight forward story to follow.
However, I thought the romance between Clooney's character and Violante Placido's didn't get enough screen time to develop properly. They fell for each other too abruptly and it couldn't really justify how the movie ended. Nevertheless, Clooney's performance towards the very end was really good.
Honestly though, because it was so queit, it may be forgettable.
