For me, what he brought to Hanna was subtle explosions that kept the pace of the movie. He was able to keep the story interesting but I couldn't say he kept me hooked. And the biggest problem I had were the action scenes; where it should have been gripping and exciting, it was almost calm for me. Just images moving in front of me and not able to get my heart pumping. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of action happening, just that I couldn't feel them.
I thought Cate Blanchett's performance suited Wright's style of directing best. She was detached and aloof and that was somehow inline with the direction of how the movie was told. So they complimented each other well.
Saoirse Ronan is a fine actress and she once again showed it here. She handled her slightly strange character well. Eric Bana's accent was slightly off but he was good enough for his role. Tom Hollander as one of the sadistic characters was really good though.
There were a few scenes that I thought were too easy. Like how Ronan's character found everything about herself on the internet on her first try with technology. But I guess there really wasn't any way around how that could be told properly without spending more time unnecessarily. But also some of the fight scenes were done in broad daylight and it seems like it could have been a scene from 28 Days Later. Nobody was ever around other than the players in the story.
There were also a few scenes that were done purely for dramatic effects and not following the logic of this world. Small and silly things like how Hanna jumped from inside a sewer hole and grabbed onto the underside of a moving vehicle. Logically and physically impossible with such stealth.
