Conan The Barbarian (6/10)

Going in with no expectation that this would be any good, I came out entertained.

This reboot of Conan has a concrete storyline albeit typical and has plenty of loopholes. But nothing that wasn't expected from a movie of such setting.

What it had going for it was a somewhat charismatic Jason Momoa as the lead, strong supporting cast that included Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Rose McGowan and Ron Pearlman; and a strong direction from Marcus Nispel.

I've already enjoyed Nispel work in Pathfinder from a few years back and he didn't disappoint with this one. Even though there wasn't much dazzling fight choreography but Nispel made it work.

What the movie suffered from was that you could ask a lot of "Why did they do this and not that?" kind of questions. The fight scenes could have used a little more flair and fancy footwork to make things more interesting, rather than just waiting for it to end. And the final battle dragged on for much too long that when it was over, it was a relief because it just got old.

The whole movie wasn't particularly exciting but from an entertainment point of view, I thought it at least delivered.
