I thought this role for him was something different and something to show another side of him that I haven't seen for a while.
But I really can't say the same for January Jones. I still wonder why she is as famous as she is today. I still do not think her acting skill is as good to have gotten her here today. Sure as the White Queen from X-Men she embodied that hard facade quite nicely but she doesn't seem to be able to do anything else apart from a blank expression.
Her acting here sometimes just didn't suit Cage's. Where Cage was over-acting, she was under-acting. Which is why the difference was so obvious.
But the story and concept as a whole was interesting enough to keep me hooked, for the first three-quarters anyway. The final act was kind of predictable. And (minor, minor spoiler) to kill off Harold Perrineau's character was just a sad excuse to kill off someone.
Guy Pearce however was brilliant. It's been a long time that I've seen Pearce in a light that I want more of him. He exuded danger, ruthlessness and unpredictability. He certainly was a bright spot for this mediocre movie.
